About SoloDesk

A small, independent set of tools for people who bill their own clients.

What this is

SoloDesk is a collection of free tools for freelancers and solo consultants: an invoice generator, rate calculators, quote and scope of work generators, a tax set-aside calculator, a payment fee comparison and a few more. Everything runs in your browser. There is no account, nothing is uploaded, and your figures stay on your device.

It is built and maintained by a small independent team that has done freelance work and got tired of tools that ask for an email address before showing a number. There is no venture funding and no sales team.

How the calculators work

Every calculator shows its method on the page, next to the result, so you can check the arithmetic yourself. The rate calculator divides the revenue you need by the hours you can actually bill. The tax set-aside calculator applies the percentages you enter, with a US mode that includes self-employment tax at the published rate. The payment fee comparison uses editable estimates, because provider fees change and depend on your account.

Where the figures come from

Tax thresholds, rates and filing rules on the country pages are structural summaries taken from the official tax authority of each country, linked on every page, and were last reviewed in September 2026. Typical rate ranges on the profession pages come from published freelance rate surveys and platform data and are meant as sanity checks, not targets. None of it is tax, legal or financial advice. Rules change, and your situation may differ, so confirm anything that affects your money with the authority linked or a local professional.

Corrections

If a figure is out of date or a tool gives a wrong answer, tell us. Say which page, what you expected and what you saw. Corrections are made as soon as they are verified, and the last-updated date in the sitemap reflects the change.

Money

The tools are free and will stay free. The site may carry clearly marked affiliate links and, in future, advertising. Affiliate links never change the price you pay, and we say so where they appear. See the affiliate disclosure and the privacy policy.
